[20]
Verses 88-100

These verses were revealed in order for the Muslims to fight the hypocrites and to abstain from doubting and hesitation. Muslims were doubting whether to fight the hypocrites of not and had different opinions among them. Allah says in these verses that the Muslims should either migrate or fight the hypocrites and has prevented them from interceding for them. [21]

The Prophet has said: âWhoever recites Surah al-Nisaa is like a person who gives charity to every believer ( â¦) and he will be given the reward of one who frees a slave, and will be saved from polytheism, and will be among those whom Allah has forgiven.â [22]
Verse 6: âTest the orphans when they reach the age of marriage. Then if you discern in them maturity, deliver to them their property. And do not consume it lavishly and hastily lest they should grow up. As for him who is well-off, let him be abstemious, and as for him who is poor, let him eat in an honourable manner. And when you deliver to them their property, take witnesses over them, and Allah suffices as a Reckoner.â

Righteous women are obedient and watchful in the absence [of their husbands] in guarding what Allah has enjoined [them] to guard. As for those [wives] whose misconduct you fear, [first] advise them, and [if ineffective] then keep away from them in the bed, and [as the last resort] chastise them. Imam Ahmad narrates from Yazeed ibn Haroon, from Sadaqah ibn Musa, from Abu Imran al-Jawni, from Yazeed ibn Badnus, from Aisha who quotes the Prophet as having said: âThere are three books with Allah: a book (of the peoplesâ deeds) which Allah will not pay attention to what is in it (on the Day of Judgement), a book which Allah will not ignore anything that is in it (on the Day of Judgement), and a book which Allah will not forgive anything that is in it (on the Day of Judgement). The first one is polytheism which Allah will not forgive (if it is in oneâs deeds), because Allah says: âIndeed Allah does not forgive that partners should be ascribed to Himâ and âIndeed whoever ascribes partners to Allah, Allah shall forbid him [entry into] the Paradise.â The second one is a person who oppresses himself by disobeying Allah in what is obligatory upon him, such as not fasting for a day, or missing a prayer which Allah will not pay attention to, and will forgive him for that and will ignore it if he wants to. The third one is oppressing one another which Allah will not ignore any of it (on the Day of Judgement), and (the punishment for which is) retaliation with no doubt.â [35]

Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr al-Bazzar narrates from Ahmad ibn Maalik, from Zaidah ibn Abi al-Raqqad, from Ziyad al-Numairi, from Anas ibn Maalik, from the Prophet who said: âOppression is of three types - an oppression which Allah will not forgive, an oppression which Allah will forgive, and an oppression which Allah will not ignore (on the Day of Judgement). The one which Allah will not forgive is polytheism, because âPolytheism is indeed a great injustice.â The one which Allah will forgive is a person who oppresses oneself by disobeying Him in what is obligatory upon him; and the one which Allah will not overlook is people oppressing one another until they retaliate.â [35]

Verse 1: âO mankind! Be wary of your Lord who created you from a single soul, and created its mate from it, and from the two of them scattered numerous men and women. Be wary of Allah, in whose Name you adjure one another and [of severing ties with] blood relations. Indeed Allah is watchful over you.â

In the book Tafseer al-Ayaashi it has been narrated from al-Asbagh ibn Nabatah who heard Amir al-Momineen say: âSurely one of you becomes angry and is not conciliated until he enters the fire. Therefore, whoever of you becomes angry with his relative, should get closer to him, because womb (relationship) when touched by womb (relationship), calms one down; and it is suspended from the Throne, it rings (the Throne) as iron is rung [by striking at it], and cries out: âO Allah! Join him who joins me, and cut him off who cuts me off.â It is the word of Allah in His book: âAnd fear Allah from whom you demand one another (your rights) and (be mindful of) your relationships, surely Allah is vigilant over you.â Whoever becomes angry while he is standing should at once cling to the earth [meaning he should sit down], because it will remove the filth of the Satan.â [57]

It has been narrated from Halabi, from Abu Abdullah who said: âIt has been mentioned in Aliâs book that a person who consumes the property of the orphans wrongfully will face trouble in his children in this world because of what he did. Allah says: âLet those fear [the result of mistreating orphans] who were they to leave behind weak offspring, would be concerned on their account. So let them be wary of Allah, and let them speak upright words.â But as for him in the Hereafter Allah says: âIndeed those who consume the property of the orphans wrongfully, only ingest fire into their bellies, and soon they will enter the Blaze.ââ [59]
Verse 11: âAllah enjoins you concerning your children: for the male shall be the like of the share of two females, and if there be [two or] more than two females, then for them shall be two-thirds of what he leaves; but if she be alone, then for her shall be a half; and for each of his parents a sixth of what he leaves, if he has children; but if he has no children, and his parents are his [sole] heirs, then it shall be a third for his mother; but if he has brothers, then a sixth for his mother, after [paying off] any bequest he may have made or any debt [he may have incurred]. Your parents and your children - you do not know which of them is likelier to be beneficial for you. This is an ordinance from Allah. Indeed Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.â

In that [book], according to Sunni and Shia traditions, it has been narrated from Ibn Wahab who quotes Abu Abdullah as having said: âWhen a person sincerely repents to Allah, Allah will love him and cover up for him [his evil actions] in this world, and in the Hereafter.â I said: âHow does He going to cover them for him?â He replied: âHe will make the two angels forget what they recorded in regards to his sins, and He will reveal to his body to hide what it knows about his sins, and He will say to the parts of the ground which he committed sins on to hide what sins he committed upon them; and he will meet Allah [on the Day of Judgement] while there will be nothing to witness against him.â [63]
Verse 24: âAnd married women, except your slave-women. This is Allahâs ordinance for you. As to other than these, it is lawful for you to seek [temporary union with them] with your wealth, in wedlock, not in license. For the enjoyment you have had from them thereby, give them their dowries, by way of settlement, and there is no sin upon you in what you may agree upon after the settlement. It has been narrated from al-Sadiq who said: âThe believers are of two kinds: (One is) a believer who fulfills the conditions that Allah had imposed upon him - he will be with the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous, and excellent companions they are; and he will be among those who will intercede, and will not need intercession (by others); and he is among those who will not be inflicted with the terror of this world, nor of the Hereafter. (The other is) a believer who has made mistakes. He is like a green stalk which inclines to whatever direction the wind pushes it and then it returns to its position. He is among those who will be inflicted with the terrors of this world and that of the Hereafter, but he will be interceded for and he is on good.â [73]

In Al-Kaafi through a chain of narrators from Dawood ibn Farqad who says: âI asked Abu Abdillah about the words of Allah, âsurely prayer is a timed ordinance.â He replied: â[It means] firm ordinance; however if you make haste a little or delay a little bit then it will do you no harm, provided that you do not neglect it altogether, because Allah, the Mighty, the Great, says: âneglecting the prayers and following the sensual desires, will certainly meet perdition.ââ [76]

So do not follow [your] desires, lest you should be unfair, and if you distort [the testimony] or disregard [it], Allah is indeed well aware of what you do.â
